Ginere Solutions (“we”, “us”) is the data controller for the BruTrans mobile
application (“the app”). You can reach us at
privacy@ginere.eu.
The short version
BruTrans shows Brussels public transport (STIB-MIVB) in real time. Your location is used
only to show the stops and the address around you: nearby stops are found on your device, and
the coordinates are sent to the transport data API only to look up that address; we never store them. Favourites and settings stay on your device. We use
Google Firebase to understand usage, diagnose crashes and (optionally) send notifications. We do
not sell your data.
What the app accesses on your device
Location (optional) — to list the stops around you and show the address you are at.
Your position is read on demand (no continuous tracking). Nearby stops are found on your device,
from the network data we publish; the coordinates are sent to the transport data API only to
look up the address shown, and the map loads the background of the area it shows from
OpenStreetMap. We do not store your position. If you deny the permission, the rest of the app
keeps working.
Notifications (optional) — if you allow them, we can send push notifications
via Firebase Cloud Messaging.
Data that stays on your device
Your favourite lines and stops, the app language, the theme and other preferences, and a short-lived
cache of transport data are kept in the app’s local storage only. We never upload them; uninstalling
the app (or clearing its data) removes them.
Transport data requests
The app fetches lines, stops, departures and service messages from the
STIB-MIVB B2C API. Each request carries the technical data needed to serve it: an
anonymous app token, the app version, your selected language and — only to look up the address shown on Nearby and on the map — the coordinates of that point. These requests contain no account or identity data (the app has no
accounts).
App updates
From version 0.3.2 the app can update its interface without going through the store. It asks our
update server (app-qr.com) whether there is a new version; that request carries no
identifier. When there is one, the app downloads it, and the download carries a random identifier
that the update component creates when the app is installed. It is used only to deliver test
versions to our test devices; it is not linked to you and we do not keep it.
Data we collect (through Google Firebase)
Usage analytics (Firebase Analytics): app opens, screens and features used, the
app language, and standard device/app information (device model, OS version, app version,
approximate region, and a random app-instance identifier). No name, email or precise location.
Crash diagnostics (Firebase Crashlytics): if the app crashes, technical data
about the crash and the device state at that moment.
Push token (Firebase Cloud Messaging): a device identifier used only to deliver
notifications, if you enabled them.
Remote configuration (Firebase Remote Config): downloads settings; sends no
personal data.
Why we process it, and the legal basis (GDPR Art. 6)
Nearby stops and the address shown: necessary to provide the feature you request (Art. 6(1)(b)); the
coordinates are not kept.
Analytics and crash diagnostics: our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) in improving and
stabilising the app, or your consent where required. You can turn them off at any time (see
“Your choices”).
Notifications: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), given by allowing the permission.
App updates: our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) in keeping the app working and secure.
Processors and third parties
We use Google Ireland Ltd / Google LLC (Firebase) as a processor. See the
Google Privacy
Policy and the
Firebase
data processing terms. Transport data requests are served by the STIB-MIVB API (Brussels
Intercommunal Transport Company); see the
privacy information on stib-mivb.be. Map backgrounds come from OpenStreetMap’s tile servers, which
receive the area shown and your IP address; see the OpenStreetMap Foundation
privacy policy. App updates are served from app-qr.com, hosted by Cloudflare. We do not sell or
share your data for advertising.
International transfers
Google and Cloudflare may process data outside the EEA. Such transfers rely on the European Commission’s Standard
Contractual Clauses and applicable adequacy mechanisms.
Retention
Analytics and crash data are kept for a limited period under Firebase defaults (for example, up to
14 months for analytics and around 90 days for crash data) and then deleted or aggregated. We keep
no copy of your location or transport queries.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, object to and port your data,
and to withdraw consent at any time. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection
authority. To exercise these rights, contact
privacy@ginere.eu.
Your choices
Usage analytics and crash diagnostics are enabled by default; you can turn them
off at any time in the app’s Privacy settings, or uninstall the app to stop all
collection.
Allow or deny the location permission — the rest of the app works without it.
Turn notifications on or off in your device settings.
Reset your app-instance/advertising identifier in your device settings.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy; the “last updated” date above will change. Material changes will be highlighted in the app.
notifications push via Firebase Cloud Messaging.
Configuration à distance (Firebase Remote Config) : télécharge des paramètres ;
n’envoie aucune donnée personnelle.
Pourquoi, et base légale (RGPD art. 6)
Vos choix
Les statistiques d’usage et le diagnostic des plantages sont activés par défaut ;
toestel gevonden, en de coördinaten gaan alleen naar de vervoersdata-API om dat adres op te zoeken;
We
Configuratie op afstand (Firebase Remote Config): downloadt instellingen;
locatie of uw vervoersopvragingen.
Uw rechten
